Privacy Policy
What CONN collects when you visit, what it does not collect, and how tips are handled.
Last updated October 25, 2026.
What we collect
When you view a page, CONN records a simple visit count using its own server. It stores the page address, the website you came from (just the domain), a rough place such as town and state worked out from your connection, whether you are on a phone or a computer, and the hour of the day. It does not use cookies for this, it does not save your IP address, and it does not build a profile of you. Google Analytics, described below, is separate. The visit count is used to see which pages readers use.
Analytics and advertising services
CONN uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect information such as your IP address, browser and device details, and approximate location, under Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. If CONN shows third-party ads in the future, ad networks may also use cookies to show ads, and this page will describe them and how to opt out, including through aboutads.info.
Tips and messages
If you send a tip through the tip form, we receive the name, email address and message you choose to type. The email address is optional. We use tips only to look into the story and to reply if you asked us to. We do not sell or share them. Tip messages are kept privately on our server and are not published.
Links to other sites
CONN links to news publishers and other sites. They have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Children
CONN is a general news site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
